Greetings! If you're new here, I wanna say thanks for taking the time to read this. We here at the Norco STEM Club have two missions:
- Give students the tools to explore their future
- Facilitate and encourage student-led projects, research, publications, and more
Basically, we want to make sure to get ya'll ready for your classes, career, and future. If you have an idea of what you wanna be 6 years from now, then we want to help you get there. If you're still unsure and need some time to think about where to go, then we can help with that too. We also try to have fun with monthly social events.
Meetings are non-mandatory; we never want to create an atmosphere where you feel forced to do anything. Most of the people who come to the meetings come because they have fun, like the company around them, and want to actually get involved in contribute their ideas. With that said and done, we still hope to see you there so we can build a feeling of community and get you with the most up to date information possible.
First up, let's go over how our club works...
You can stay up to date with all our events, deadlines, meeting times/locations, projects, and more by visiting our Club Calendar. Clicking this link will add it to your personal google calendar, so that way you can account for our events and the ones in your schedule.
The quickest way to get an answer or to contact an officer is to use the club Discord. It's an app that you can use both on your phone and computer. It's basically a group instant messenger... emphasize on the instant. You can join by click on the link or connecting to the widget at the bottom of the page.
We use the forums (this website) when we want concrete info that's easy to find or search for. Over here are links to resources in and out of school, news about club/campus events, and project info/recruitment.
We also have an instagram, twitter, and facebook!
We have 4 branches of STEM to get involved in
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students are allowed to self-identify with any of these four branches, and cross-membership between the branches is allowed. In terms of involvement, members can look at the bounty board and self-select their workload and what tasks they wanna help out with. Each branch also has their own areas where internships & resources specific to their branch are showcased.
Anyone that takes on a tasks can then be considered an "officer"; they'll have the opportunity to briefly interact with the professors in their major's department, meet the department chairs, interact with professors, research opportunities for their branch, and more.
We also have committees for events happening on campus and general leadership positions; such as the historians, who handle social media for the club. You can find those open positions at the bounty board.
If you're up for applying for any of these positions of involvement, click here.
