NASA is the National Aeronautics and Space Association of America. They put a guy on the moon. 'Nuff said.
NASA has a very thorough internship program, and are constantly trying to promote STEM Education throughout the country. Even though your major may not specifically be Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, don't be discouraged! There are many areas of space that require many skills form humanity. Astrobiology, Astrophysics, Planetary and Climate Science, Computer Science, and much more are all areas under NASA's domain!
